Peach and Plum Picking

Here are a few shots from a recent trip to the Belkin Family Lookout Farm in Natick, MA, where my boyfriend Matt and I took to picking our own peaches, plums, and nectarines. I would have put nectarines in the title of this post, but I was really liking the alliteration I had going there. This place was adorable, it had a little train (not an actual train, more like a tram with a train look to it) that would take you to different parts of their farm and had several stops along the way to pick different kinds of fruit. Though Matt and I usually frequent Honey Pot Hill Orchards for our apple picking in the fall, this place was a great alternative for picking summer fruits. I also learned after going there that apparently this farm is actually one of the oldest continuous working farms in the country. It has been used as a farm in one person’s ownership or another since 1650. So there’s your little fun fact for the day. One thing that I was captivated by was that the farm had these pathways for the trolleys that were covered with grape vines. As a photographer, all I could think was […]

Blueberry Muffins with Streusel Topping

This past weekend, I went a little shop happy at Whole Foods and bought a lot of fruit. Even though I am pretty good about eating fruit before it goes bad, I wanted to find a good recipe to use up the remainder of blueberries that I had. After doing my usual perusing of Pinterest, I found this recipe for blueberry muffins with a streusel topping. It looked relatively easy and I haven’t made muffins a very long time, so it seemed like a perfect option. I got this recipe from Little Sweet Baker‘s website, recipe here. These muffins were very tasty, since I usually have a pretty light breakfast unless I’m doing a long run it was nice to have a treat like this for breakfast this morning. Though muffins always feel like more of a dessert to me, it’s really nice to have a treat like this once in a while.   INGREDIENTS 2 & ½ cups all-purpose flour 1 tbsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda ½ tsp salt ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled 1 cup sugar 2 large eggs 1 cup milk (any kind, whole or buttermilk is best) 1 tbsp vanilla extract 1 […]

Overnight Chia Seed Pudding with Strawberries

So last week, I tried my hand at this whole overnight breakfast idea. I found a recipe for a chia seed overnight pudding on Buzzfeed’s “Clean Eating Challenge”. While I am not sure I could commit to eating completely clean eating like that for two whole weeks, I did want to try this healthy recipe. This was my first time buying chia seeds as well, so there were a lot of firsts with this recipe. This was super easy. All you do is mix together almond milk, chia seeds, honey, and vanilla extract. This recipe called for figs, but alas I could not find any dried figs at the store and the fresh are not in season. I just substituted in dates for the figs. After you mix those ingredients together you put it in a sealed container overnight. In the morning it opens up as more of a pudding with the chia seeds having absorbed the almond milk overnight. Once you get it out in the morning, you can slice up strawberries and if you like almonds you can put some of those into the pudding as well. While the texture took some getting used to, the flavors were on […]

Levain Bakery Copycat Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie

So sorry I have been so neglectful of my blog as of late. In the last month and a half I have been dealing with making my photography business a legitimate business. So with that came trips to City Hall to get a business certificate, sending numerous emails to photographers to ask to assist and/or second shoot for them for weddings coming up this summer, spending time at banks to make up a business account, etc etc. So unfortunately this blog has once again gone by the wayside. This post is about a week and a half late, but these cookies were totally awesome. I stumbled upon this recipe on Pinterest, and was immediately intrigued. I have gone to Levain Bakery on the Upper West Side of NYC numerous times because it is a short walk from my sister’s place. The first time I went there was to get a treat for my boyfriend under my sister’s rave of a recommendation because he had been having a bad week. Anyone who has been there knows how awesome their cookies are, especially their Chocolate Chip Walnut cookie. These cookies are almost bigger than your hand and somehow are always warm and gooey […]
