Ikea Bar Cart Hack

I know I said I would be blogging on the regular, but I had a few things come up in the last month. I started working freelance a few days a week at this awesome place called The Grommet. Between that and wedding season, my photo work has eaten up almost every free moment I have had as of late. Still adjusting to the new schedule, so hopefully I will be able to blog at least once a week now that I have my life a bit more organized. Anyways, something fun that I have neglected to blog about was my first ever Ikea hack. I decided to start small because I haven’t DIYed anything beyond food recipes 🙂 I had all of these really cool glasses and cocktail accessories given to me from family and friends, and wanted a cute bar cart to put them on. When I looked for bar carts online, everything seemed way too expensive for my budget. So, the next thing I did was look on Pinterest for inexpensive bar cart options, which is when I happened upon a DIY for an Ikea cart that was made to be a bar cart. This one looked relatively […]

Peach and Prosciutto Three Cheese Pizza

Last week, I talked to you all about my recent trip to Belkin Family Lookout Farm. I even convinced a few friends of mine to head there on their own peach picking trip. One thing that I always do as soon as I go fruit picking is to look for recipes that I can make with that fruit. Usually I look through Pinterest and recipe websites that I love. One site that I have found multiple awesome recipes is Cooking Classy, and that is where I found this recipe for a three cheese peach and prosciutto pizza with fresh basil and a honey balsamic reduction. I was a little worried at first because I had never made a reduction like the honey balsamic reduction required in the recipe. Luckily, it went well and didn’t stick to the pan. I will say, the one shortcut that I took with this recipe is that I bought the pizza dough. Whole Foods sells some pretty decent pizza dough, so I felt like that is an acceptable short cut to make. This recipe was awesome, it made some incredibly delicious pizza. I always love recipes that blend the sweet and savory flavors and this […]

Peach and Plum Picking

Here are a few shots from a recent trip to the Belkin Family Lookout Farm in Natick, MA, where my boyfriend Matt and I took to picking our own peaches, plums, and nectarines. I would have put nectarines in the title of this post, but I was really liking the alliteration I had going there. This place was adorable, it had a little train (not an actual train, more like a tram with a train look to it) that would take you to different parts of their farm and had several stops along the way to pick different kinds of fruit. Though Matt and I usually frequent Honey Pot Hill Orchards for our apple picking in the fall, this place was a great alternative for picking summer fruits. I also learned after going there that apparently this farm is actually one of the oldest continuous working farms in the country. It has been used as a farm in one person’s ownership or another since 1650. So there’s your little fun fact for the day. One thing that I was captivated by was that the farm had these pathways for the trolleys that were covered with grape vines. As a photographer, all I could think was […]

Blueberry Muffins with Streusel Topping

This past weekend, I went a little shop happy at Whole Foods and bought a lot of fruit. Even though I am pretty good about eating fruit before it goes bad, I wanted to find a good recipe to use up the remainder of blueberries that I had. After doing my usual perusing of Pinterest, I found this recipe for blueberry muffins with a streusel topping. It looked relatively easy and I haven’t made muffins a very long time, so it seemed like a perfect option. I got this recipe from Little Sweet Baker‘s website, recipe here. These muffins were very tasty, since I usually have a pretty light breakfast unless I’m doing a long run it was nice to have a treat like this for breakfast this morning. Though muffins always feel like more of a dessert to me, it’s really nice to have a treat like this once in a while.   INGREDIENTS 2 & ½ cups all-purpose flour 1 tbsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda ½ tsp salt ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled 1 cup sugar 2 large eggs 1 cup milk (any kind, whole or buttermilk is best) 1 tbsp vanilla extract 1 […]
